04 superb classic alarm going off every 5 mins!

Featured Replies

Its just started this week randomly going off. Ive checked all doors, windows, boot etc each time but none open/unlocked.

Tonight it has started going off every 5 to 10 minutes. Could it be main battery starting to fail? It starts ok and has never been a problem but I have not replaced it before and its coming up for 6 years old. i have had to leave it unlocked overnight now.

It ha been raining all week where I live/work maybe this has some bearing? I have checked internally but found no water yet.

thanks for any help.

Try feeling the passenger footwells for damp. Also make sure if the car is parked outside that the air vents are closed when parking up. I know it sounds dumb but the air can blow through and set off the ultrasonics.

Failing that I have had experience where one of the ultrasonic sensors in an old Peugeot went nuts on me. Replacing it was a fortune so I "misted" them with hairspray (borrowed from the Mrs :smirk: ) and it dampened their sensitivity and cured my problem. Not suggesting you do this until you isolate the problem, but it may come in useful.

Other than that, drop down to a garage and have the battery checked. I think kwik-fit do that stuff FOC.

I dont know where the sensors are tbh. I will run it into quick fit to get the battery checked tomorrow, whats the betting they never say it is fine ;-?

We've had some very wet weather lately - all Superb Mk 1s and Passat B5.5s need to be kept well under cover.

(I wonder if the head of VAG will be as honest as Toyota have been over this diabolical design - fat chance...). The sods knew all about this problem before the Superb was screwdrivered by Skoda.

rotodiesel.

They're in the cabin, usually mounted high on roof lining and incorporated into cabin lights. I think they're mounted either side in the rear cabin lights unit in the Superb. They look like little microphones ... well if you're the paranoid type they look like little microphones anyhow.

Does the switch on the B pillar by the drivers seat turn the sensors off completley, I cant remember. Maybe worth pressing the switch and seeing it it helps?

Not sure where ou mean or if theres a switch i havnt spotted one?

THe rain eased up yeasterday and no alarms. Seems like the wet is the problem here as some have suggested. Maybe I need to get pollen filter etc swapped out to make sure.

It's more likely damp problem, there are good posts on curing the water ingress.

You should have a small illuminated switch at the base of the drivers side pillar, you can turn off the alarm sensors, this is to enable a person or animal to remain in the vehicle if secured. This does not turn the sensors off permanently they rearm on next opening and closeing of vehicle.

I had this same problem on my 04 Superb Classic. It was water in the passenger side footwell.

The carpet did not feel wet to touch on top but when I lifted it .............it was soaked underneath

There's an electronic board inside a plastic case and it was wet too, I managed to save mine and dry it out, no problems since
