Brakes jammed and ABS warning light on!

Featured Replies

Brakes jammed and ABS warning light on . Managed to get a few yards down the road then had to give up. I had new brake pads and disks fitted a few weeks ago.

Since then I had noticed a slight delay in moving away (as if the wheel was trapped against the kerb) but the guy at the garage had said it takes 100 miles or so for the new brake stuff to bed in so not to worry if they didn’t respond like before.

Anyone got any ideas ?

Checked fluid and that’s ok.

Hi

Had something similar in my old Cavalier.

IIRC, turned out it was a failing brake servo vacuum unit. I'd noticed the fuel consumption increasing & I couldn't push the vehicle when on level ground. The Alloys got awful warm too. Garage said if it had failed competely the brakes would have fully applied. Hope this helps......

Just remembered in addition to the front pads/discs, they also took apart and checked\cleaned up the rear brakes. Not sure if relevant but does seem a big co-incidence.

The guy who did it isgoing to take a look tomorrow (providing Tesco breakdown will tow it there!)
