The happiest motorists drive ... a Skoda Felicia

Featured Replies

It took you long enough, did you notice the date??? :giggle:

'They were satisfied with almost every element of the car except the steering.'

-- i know what they are saying about the steering :) the power steering model feels like the steering wheel and the wheels could be on different continents and when you stop the manual steering model there is not enough power left in your arms to open the door!

everyone else agree with that on the steering? i love mine..

my power steering seems to do weird things, where i live so we can get both cars in i need to get my car right up close to the wall to get cars alongsdie each other, and i find it far easier to lean my head out the windowto look what the wheels are doing rather than rely on the steering wheel.

Cars have moved on a bit since this article I'm glad to say.

btw. the only problems I've had with steering is a poor turning circle

The steering on the non-PAS models mean you don't have to go to the gym.

Not had any problems with the steering on my sons Felly; it is better than the steering on my Previa!!!

Agreed. Caught me out the first time I had to do a full lock turn as i ended up over the centre white line, with a car coming!

haha, that survey is all fairly circumstantial anyway, lets be honest who is going to admit that thier skoda is a pile of **** anyway what with the stigma attached to them

Poor turning circle is a fault carried over from the Favorit platform the Felicia was based on.

What the Felicia was back then, the equivalent now is probably a Hyundai or a Kia in 2010. Skoda are too VAG orientated now with prices to match.

Ooh I don't know about that. My Felicia is an LXi, so you might expect a couple of frills as other manufacturers were offering at the time for similarly marques. Nope, not even leccy windows. :)

On the other hand, my in laws have just bought a Kia Ceed. It's a basic model but very well specced even compared to it's current peers from Ford, Renault.

And a nice price to boot ;)

My sister has just got a Hyundai i20 and I can't believe all the stuff you get for the price.

In Skoda's current offerings, £9,130 gets you a 1.2 6v htp 60bhp Fabia 1 with electric front windows, 3.5mm aux input, reach/rake steering adjustment and that's about it.

Hyundai, £8,845 gets you a 1.4 99bhp Comfort i20. Curtain air bags, traction control, alloys, air con, usb input, 6 speakers, electric door mirrors, trip computer, longer warranty and I could probably go on.

If you were buying new on price you wouldn't buy Skoda these days.

I didn't think I would ever buy a Skoda at all, new or old, until I bought the felicia a few weeks back ! :giggle:
