Just noticed most of the used headlights on Ebay have a rubber strip which appears to be clipped across the top above the lens.

Neither of mine, nor the used one I've just bought have them on. Does everyone else have them or does it depend on the age of the car?

Mine is a 53 plate and the new lamp is from an 04.

I have them on my 01 vrs mate.

I have them on 2001 TDi.

yup got them on mine too, looks like yours are missing.

And they're on my 06 Mk1 too, so that covers pretty much the whole production run.

On my 51 TDI too, although 1 or the rubber strips is loose and flies around abit like a dodgy comb over, will get it glued down

Looking at mine (http://www.matthewames.co.uk/briskoda/20070112_scuttle_bung/PICT2761.JPG) they seem to have 3 rubber mount bits at the top, and I guess one or two down the side.
