However, I may not reach that mileage ( will have probably have done 500 miles) before I have to use the car to tow a small (550kgs) caravan. Anyone got any advice on the matter or been in similar dilemma?

Just tow what you need to tow, it'll be fine.

As Keith said just tow and it will be fine but if you are being super careful try not to labour the engine in any gear.
