Headunit removal - is there a nack?

Featured Replies

Hi gents

I've bought some new ipod gear for the fabia and I can't get the head unit out.

I bought these removal tools but when I put them in I cant see how it is releasing the head unit? Do I insert them straight on or do I need to angle them?

These are the ones that the website suggested for the removal of the skoda head unit

Any help greatfully appreciated

Autoleads stuff is generally poor quality, that's the problem...

Straight in till they click and pull the unit out, at least that's how it's supposed to work!

If you're feeling brave, Cut a junior hacksaw blade in half, Use a pair of side cutters!

Insert until you feel resistance, Then apply a bit of pressure and you should feel the locks disengage.

If the HU doesn't pop forward apply outward pressure on the blades (towards the doors)and ease the whole assy' out towards you!

Cheers guys, just been down to Halfrauds and bought some kenwood ones and removed it no probs in about 5 seconds. I'm a bit ****ed off the place I bought all the kit from as the 5v converter to allow use of the ipod touch is missing and the removal keys are the wrong ones
