External Temp readings

Featured Replies

Hi, does anybody know where the external temperatures are taken from and if so is this part replaceable. the thing is my dash and climatic always seem to be around 8°c lower than the ambient temperature.

There is one sensor in the little pull out grille on the right hand side of the front bumper as you look at it, pull out the grille and the sensor is held on by one of the screws that holds the bumper to the chassis.

This is a picture of the grille on the left hand side but this is the little grille you need to pull out and the sensor will be attached to one of the screws ringed in red

There is also a sensor under the plenum chamber covers (bits under the wipers). One sensor does the dash reading, one does the climatronic but I'm not sure which is which (I think the bumper one is the dash)

does this prevent your a/c working as it thinks its too cold?

No all is working well, it just annoying as it displays a temp that is way too cold. Its seems easily 8°c too low.

I will look under this grill, do you know if this can be replaced.

Yep, not sure what the part number is (a dealer will be able to look it up for you) but it can be unplugged from it's multiplug and replaced.

Chris,

Can you let us know how you get on, I have an identical problem! changed the sensor in the bumper but the fault is still there, couldn't get to the plenum as I couldn't get the covers off, its as if they have been bonded to the windscreen.

good luck

Regarding the plenum chmber cover

get your fingers under the seal that runs across the screen, and pull up from the screen, just below the seal is groove in the glass and theres a coressponding notch running along the length of the plastic cover. you need to pull the cover out from the groove.

Thanx Fatty, I'll give that a go.
