Octavia change dilemma

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

Ages since I visited the site!...... Octy 2000 110 going well 128,000 uses no oil between changes and pulls as good as the day I had it 3 years ago..

Just want a change and after testing a 03 passat 130 tdi was very impressed but would miss the Octy style hatch back. My dilemma on Changing is, I can get £1500 for my car but to replace it for a vehicle having done around 60,000 I'm looking at £6-7000!

Do I go with A4, Passat estate or stick with Skoda.... 130 K+L, (dont like boy racer VRS, I'm getting on!) .Going to test 03 A4 2.5 tdi 53,000 gen mileage Monday.

I'm reluctant to sell 110...... as Air con, maff air flow, wheel bearings, discs, front elec windows have all been done. Do I drive it into the ground and have no choice but to get something else?

I would drive it at least one more year, it will not lose any more. Are you sure a 03 passat for £7000., that's way too much !, you should look at an Octavia 2 if you still want to change

Sorry forgot to mention the Passat was selling for £4000 but could'nt verify mileage and history. It drove very well. Gear stick boot was really worn..canvas showing though, this was my indicator of more than 53,000 that was on the clock. If I change cars Its got to be 130 bhp or + now!

Why not go for a probably fairly rare 130pd Octy hatch? Or do you fancy a change of body shape too?

If you can find a PD130 L&K you'll be really happy with it. Had mine two years now and it's great.

Toys AND power, and still quite understated. And 60+mpg on a long motorway trip!

Can you get a L&K without that tan leather interior? :(

You can, but they're rare. I narrowly missed one on autotrader when I was looking; '53 plate with black leather interior and a PD130 engine, 57k miles for £5k. Quite a lot of money though for a 6 / 7 year old car. I have learned to like the tan leather.

Mine has the black leather. Looked at a few with that horrible tan interior. Somehow doesn't look right. Looks ok in something like a Jag or a merc but some reason it looks wrong in the octy. Haven't seen too many others like it though.

It's been my first car with leather seats. Love it so much (got loads of kids who leave all sorts of crap all over it, it just wipes clean - great!) I've a bit of a dilemma - I want a 4x4 (prob Scout) for my next car but really want leather too. Guess I can't have it all? In any case it'll be a few years till I swap.

It's my first car with cruise control as well. I don't think I could buy a car without it now.

PD140 L&K with black leather

There's this one on the Skoda UK website... but yes they are rare.

Thanks for the link but it’s out of my price league, useful site though.

Looking through these ads engine sizes come in 1.9tdi and 2.0tdi, the year of manufacture not being relevant as some 2.0 engines go back further than the 1.9. If I'm correct, the 2.0tdi is DOHC and generally people warn me off saying engines have all sorts of problems and are less fuel efficient, the dual mass clutches are prone to give up. Not one to believe in idle gossip I wouldn’t have thought the VW Empire would have made a blunder like this?
