Is it time to let go

Featured Replies

My faithful old felicia estate (1998 1.9 diesel with 125,000 miles on) has reached the point where the rear wheel arches need replacing. I'd have to get this done professionaly and I'm guessing that the cost would probably be at least equivalent to the current value of the car, haven't plucked up the courage to get a quote yet!

Have I lost the plot completely for even considering this and is it perhaps time to accept the inevitable and let go?

Regards,

Andy

Why not just cut the rust out and fill/paint them yourself? This could be done for less than 20 quid ,saves scrapping an otherwise usable motor?

It'd certainly be cheaper to buy a welder yourself and have a go at it than it would for some places to repair them, for sure. However, you may find that a mobile welding type service can do them for a decent price that makes it worthwhile - remember that cheap cars often aren't so cheap these days due to the scrappage scheme.
