Amplifier not working

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

This midday (I have experienced the same problem for the third time in a week: after being parked under the sun for some hours, when I started the car and turned the radio on, it didn't make any sound at all. The radio was working, the tactile screen was OK, but it did not make any sound at all. I turned it on and off several times, but no change was observed...

Finally I read the manual and noticed that the amplifier had a dedicated 30 A fuse, so I stopped at a service station and removed that fuse. I checked it (OK) and put it again into its location. I swicthed the car on again and the amplifier came back to life.

I know it's not an important problem (it isn't the engine or the gearbox...), but it's quite boring driving without music, radio or, the most important, phone (the speakers don't work). And it's also quite disappointing being "forced" to stop the engine (and the car) just for playing with a fuse.

Has this problem happened to anyone more?

Thanks in advance.

Is your Superb an elegance with the sound upgrade accompanied by Columbus?. The few problems I have had with my last 3 Skoda's have mainly been with the sound systems (and columbus) . I also really enjoy my music on the move and I have come to terms with its "moods"!!

Had this twice in the year but never had it when car is hot due to sun as I leave home at half four in morning so in this country never a problem.

This sound problem happened on my Superb II, too, using the Bolero unit and upgraded sound system. I have the car since a year and happened 3-4 times. If I turned off the ignition, then turned back again, it worked.

Thanks for the replies.

Mine is an Elegance with Bolero radio and upgraded sound system, I have no navigator. The first thing I tried was turning off the ignition and then turn it on, but no results.

I had the same problem on Sunday. Came back to the car after 4-5 hrs and no sound although screen was working OK. Tried switching ignition on and off to no avail. I got back home and after leaving the car for another hour or 2, I tried again and it was working! I have the Bolero with sound system. Must say i am not overly impressed with the upgraded sound as even low frequency bass at low volume provokes buzzing and rattling from the door speakers.

Cheers

Based on Skoda's programming system (VAG-COM) this system is equivalent of the VW Dynaudio system, I don't know, how good is it in Passat, but it's really not good in Skoda. I'M thinking to upgrade the system to a better one...

One thing that you could try is that you pull the driver`s seat all the way back, remove that plastic cover that hides the amplifier and disconnect the BIG switch that is connected to the amplifier. It only takes a minute. It can`t hurt if this problem continues to rise up....

The reason why I suggest this is that when we removed the bolero from my current car about a year ago and replaced that with a JVC-unit, all the can-bus-adapter-wires were connected but the amplifier said nothing. Everything else worked but no sound. Then we did that thing I mentioned, and WHAM, the amplifier came alive !! And has worked perfectly.

Thanks, I'll try it.

Hi,

I can confirm that installing an Aftermarket HU sound might not work if you have 10CH Amplifier.

To solve it, I have tried Skoda-Man advice and I have installed new HU, power it up and then I have removed and connect back the 10CH Amplifier plug, amplifier that is located under passenger seat.
