Slight Knocking

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have just collected my new vRS tonight and there is a slight knocking sound on the left hand side which sounds similar to a droplink.

It's just been serviced and MOT'd, but I have been told it could be an engine guard?

Can anyone shed any light?

Luke

Is it when you are turning the wheels? does it do it at certain speeds?

If you can get underneath you should be able to see if the engine splashguard is loose, it's the plastic cover between the wheel and engine block.

Just when driving along mainly like over slight bumps in the road?

if its a 'knock..more than likely a drop link of antirollbar bushes..very common..although it was mot'd and servied it may have not been picked up..can be easily missed.

Yep could be ARB bushes. If you take the wheel off on that side you can see the ARB is held to the subframe by a polybush in a bracket, this will have either deteriorated or the ARB underneath has corroded.
