Fabia ICE virgin

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I could do with some help. I want to upgrade the sound in my furby but I know nothing about the ICE world.

I would like a MP3 CD head unit and to upgrand the speakers all the way around (all 8 of them?).

I cant fit the head ok and most likey the speakers (is using the orginal wires ok?) as I have done that before, but anything more than that I'm lost (ie subs, amps etc).

What ever setup I go for I'd like to add bits to it later like an amp or sub box.

What is the best to go for without costing a load of cash.

I must sound a bit dim but if someone can take me under their wing and help me out I'd be greatful!

Cheers

Mike

I say leave the rear 4 alone (woofers around boot plus back door tweeters) I tried 6x9s and did nothing. Nothing wrong I guess with amplifying them? Something I've never tried yet.

Front door speakers are a worthy upgrade - a set of

cheers Jay, I might get someone to do it for more, either that or wait till it's a bit warmer!! Any makes to look at? What to advoid etc. I've see a pioneer head unit that looks cool.

I hear Kenwood are good, especially the KDC M6024 ;):D

Theirs a pioneer head unit that very popular on here. Not sure on the model name but seems very good. Tempted myself to get one. It plays MP3 and doesn't look too flash/complicated to use. A worth while upgrade over standard.

Next I would say leave the standard speakers for now but disconnect the rear tweeters. This can be done from the rear speakers either side of the parcel shelf. Just a case of upluging some wires.

After that its sub and amp time. Which means routing of cables down the car. Not difficult just skin ripping on the old hands :D As Jason says you'll need a power cable from the battery, RCA's from the HU plus remote cable to turn the amp(s) on and off from the HU and also a good earth point in the boot.

That would be the DEH-77MP? no?

My current one is the 8400, and is very niiiiice. If only I could get it back into its slot - so many damn wires and stuff. :(

Thats the one Jason.

I found a little trick to solve the lack of room behind the HU. Involves a saw and some plastic :D

yeah I was thinking of something like that, not too flashy and looks classy.

Other one would be the DEH P80MP as it looks really funky, but I've no idea if it's any good!!

I'd rather stay with pioneer as I have done in the past DEH P6600 or something alike

Remember to have a little chat with me on Sunday! :D:thumbup:

[eastenders] You're bang out of order! :grumpy: [/eastenders]

Of course it will be OK. :D I'll be disconnecting all the amps in the boot so you can see how the bare wiring kind of works - also will be able to see the way through the bulkhead, as the glovebox is kind of "missing" at the moment too.:D

cheers buddy, good eastenders impression scared the sh*y out off me! :D like I said I am hoping to get there.

Mike,

If you're coming to Anglesey - sorry I can't remember if there was a sad tale explaining you can't make it :o - you're more than welcome to a listen of mine :)

Well - anyone wanting a "listen" to mine will be sadly disappointed. Kenwood removed tonight, so front speakers are dead (was having probs anyway, so was good timing) plus I have no subs, etc in... :D But you're welcome to look at disconnected wiring, and my superb drill hole through to the engine bay. ;)
