AUM Power gains - VRS Vs. Elegance

Featured Replies

As you may have gathered from ym many remap related posts this week I'm trying to decide which remapper to use.

However I have one quesin that will apply to them all.

The various tuners supply power curves to show what I can expect to get from a VRS but I have an Elegance with the AUM engine.

Is there likely to be much of a difference in power/torque levels after the remap? I notice the Jabba site lists the 4x4 as having the approximate same final power a remapped VRS. I believe the 4x4 has the same engine as my car?

Is the mapping the only difference on the VRS/ AUM Elegance engines from the factory?

IIRC Nick has that engine code (also known as SLO ;) ) he may be able to help. Actually KLB may have as well, but his is an auto.

cheers (why diddnt I find that when searching??)

Have a look at the Article below too. The AUM (2WD), ARX (4X4) and AUQ (vRS) are the same engine apart from a few minor parts - and of course the exhaust. All should be tuneable to around the same figure, give or take a few bhp. They are all VVT (variable valve tuning) and DBW (drive by wire), unlike the original 1.8T - the AGU - which lacks VVT and is cable throttle.

To make absolutely sure that your version of the AUM has VVT, have a read of the following FAQ and then check your engine. I am suggesting you do this because early 4X4s did not have VVT engines and the same might just apply to the AUM.
