Im no expert but you need to put a positive to the ignition live.

Usually you have 3, permanent live - ignition live and earth.

Hope its of some help.

Which head unit is it?

I could power my RNS510 no problem with just Ground and +UB but doing the same with my Stream just didn't work ( wanted to test the code for the Stream before I put the RNS510 in and overwrote the code in the dash). I think if it is a Stream or similar it needs to to see a signal on the Can High. There is no 'Ignition Live' AFAIK. It's all done by the can bus. Perhaps changing the 'Key off' setting with VCDS would sort it out.

Maybe someone could confirm?

Best,

Mark
