More insurance lunacy

Featured Replies

Swmbo got her renewal through for her 1.4 Xsara - £260 :o £30 less than my Octy, car kept in the same place, same drivers, same mileage worth a tad less. She was not amused. Quick check round got it down to 155 easily. I guess Morethan didn't want her high risk motor

I think insurance co.s get there no.s in the same way as the national lottery.

There isn't an insurance quote in the land that can be justified. Theoretically, once loadings for postcode, age, car, driver details etc are taken off and discounts for NCB etc are added on they should all come back to the same figure.

Not quite as simple as that I know, but there must be a starting point somewhere.

Insurance quotes = highway robbery.

insurance doesnt make sense, heres my latest lunacy uncovered, am almost certainly trading in my skoda on saturday, for an 07 plate astra 1.7 CTDi, and the astra is cheaper insurance, despite being worth considerably more, as in 7 or 8 grand more lol

heres the quotes: skoda felicia 1.3 estate, t reg value £500, £43 a month, same insurance company, vaux astra 1.7 CTDi £32 a month, realise where they got the name confused.com now

But isnt it all down to how cheap they are to repair after a prang? My new insurance quote for the FAb RS over here in Ireland is 400 euro!! thats with 7 yeras no claims and a female named driver!!.....scandalous!!!

K:)

Here's real lunancy

My insurance quote for

my old modded Octi TDI £480 PA

my 407 hdi sport standard £600 PA

octimarks hearse £460 PA

And all through the same insurance company and on a like for like replacement policy

Usually hate ads ,but there's one or two that ring true - one for a comparison site "you Brits can't haggle for toffee" and the nationwide ( old one) -"New customers only" .

get your renewal ,get on line and check things out -often the quote from your company can be a lot less -( as a new customer) - I then phone up renewals and ask why -usually it's the "that's online for newcustomers " -my reply -"in that case -another company will match/beat yours to get me as a new customer " -usually does the trick .Samewith home insurance ,though as I'm getting on a bit -certain companies give me an age discount .This year -cheapest home renewal was four times one company for wrinklies ( and all I had to do was to get a car quote ).

So shop around -and if they ask "what's the best quote " - knock a good bit off lowest and see what they do .

I agree. My brother just paid 2k for his 1st policy. Then then had the cheek of ringing up today asking of we wanted legal and breakdown cover. They've just had 2k off him and they want more! FFS!

I dont have car insurance, its more fun
