Grill-ed Cheese

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Quick and simple question...

Is a mk1 vRS grill different from a normal mk1 octavia grill?

Cheers

Edited by Pot Of jam

nope lol,

only the vRS badge

I think the pre-facelift grilles were slightly different though....

I'm sure someone will confirm.

Cheers for the quick replys guys!

Well I have brought an mk1 grill from flea bay and I was going to have a practise on the whole mesh grill thing before I went at mine.

Now I pulled it all apart and it seams to be different to the one that Bowders1 uses in his guide, I had quick look at mine and again the "grill" part is different.

If you know the guide he tells you it’s in three parts,

1. Colour coded surround

2. Plastic grill

3. Chrome trim

It’s part two that is diff on my vRS and the one used in Bowders1 guide.

Anyone else had this issue?

there should be no diff.

the ones of ebay are crap mate, I got one as it was only £30 for the lot, the silver surround is flatter and the skoda badge bit doesnt push fwd as much as the OEM one.

put it this way. get OEM

silver surround £50ish

grill part is £35ish

colour coding part £30ish iirc (needs Painting tho)

Ill dig out the PN tomoz mate, they are in my car somewhere

Ah well it wasnt a new one, it was off of an old car (it was very crappy condition). Not all is lost though as I will spray the chrome bit black, but as for the mesh, think I will give up on that idea!

The grille part on the pre-facelift (L, LX SLX) models with the lens headlights is a different width (several inches wider) than that on the later models (Classic, Ambiante, Elegance, L&K and vRS) with clear shields and integrated foglights.

Ah so it wont fit the VRS as it is bigger?

Any pre-facelift grille fits any pre-facelift car; similarly any post-facelift grille fits any post-facelift car, but the grille aren't interchangable between pre-and post-facelift. Ok?
