Head Unit in Octavia I?

Featured Replies

When I took ownership of my 2003 Octavia vRS estate the previous owner had replaced the original head unit with an Alpine (ipod compatible) unit. I am thinking of replacing the Alpine unit with this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SKODA-OCTAVIA-SYMPHONY-CD-PLAYER-RADIO-CODE_W0QQitemZ270561767571QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Audio_TV_Electronics_In_Car_Entertainment_GPS_In_Car_Audio_Players_PP?hash=item3efebcf093

or something similar.

Would a unit like this control the cd multi player which is still in the car?

Thanks

It should do I think, the sockets on the back look the same the Skoda cassette HU that was in my car.

Make sure it is from an Octavia and not a Fabia, the fabia ones have a curved front I believe.

You will also need the radio code or get it coded to the car.

Why the step down?

Why the step down?

Because I don't like the Alpine unit, and don't own an ipod

It looks right, and hey, some of us still own cassettes, right.

What Alpine unit is it? I may be interested in buying it if it has an Ai-NET socket.
