superb tdi 140bhp 6spd manual

Featured Replies

hi there ...i was driving my superb around town the other day and was approaching a roundabout when momentarilly the car decided to put its foot down and then eased off...yet i wasnt touching the accelerator !!...the sudden increase in power albeit it for a fraction of a second was a bit unerving....does anyone on here have an idea what might of happened?

the car has behaved since....but im worried it might put the wind up my wife when she uses it for work.....any help on theis would be much appreciated........andy

Had you been accelerating just prior?

I know they can be prone to it. Mine has done it on occasion. Gone from flooring the throttle, lifted foot off, then the car accelerates for a a second on it's own accord. From memory it's something to do with the EGR. It is documented somewhere, will have a check and post back.

Either that or you've fitted a Toyota throttle pedal.

That made me chuckle...using a jap throttle peddle.....tho i imagine those owners who experience full acceleration and cant do anything about it in their toyota's must be bricking it. I'll check the egr valve as you mentioned and see if anything needs sorting or cleaning.

Having done 36k miles i think something associated with either the electronics of the accelerator or maybe something sticking might well be the problem....the trouble is, being such a nice weekend i had other chores to do...but my wife hasnt complained about the car, and i do my best to keep the black beast in tip top condition. So like you say it might just be caused through the acceration and momentarily the car decides it wants to carry on !! and the one thing i do like is lots of torque, and getting the gearing right and the right revs and it certainly shifts, without the need for full revs
