i have a 55 plate octavia vrs yesterday i was driving off from the lights and when i put my foot down on the gas it was as if there was no power then a amber light which looks like an engine block started flashing. In my owners manual it says that this is an exhaust system warning light when i took it to my skoda dealer they said it is an engine warning light. Any how two road tests later and a diagnostic check skoda seem unsure of what the problem is injectors has been mentioned, Turbo has been mentioned but they said they can not pin point the problem. I now await a verdict from tech support at skoda UK but has anyone else had this sudden power loss problem with the same issues any advice would be appreciated as skoda seem to be drawing a blank on this one Many Thanks

The diagnostic test should have thrown up some fault codes, if you know what the codes are someone here might be able to help.

i have a similar problem the garage changed the accelerator pedal the fault re-occured fortunaely i wasnt far from the garage so they could put their magic box to work it came to the conclusion of OVER BOOST whatever that might be it also had some other code come up which the mechanic is going to investigate so still not cured. this seems to be a common fault wih these engines. think ill check the audi and vw sites

car is octavia 1.9 reg 53

Mk1 octy 1.9 tdi with overboost is most likely due to sticking vanes on the turbo.

Does it run normally after switching off and back on again?
