Octavia Combi rear dampers

I was doing a visual on the suspension last week and spotted rear bump stops are knackered (looks like a rodent had attacked them!). I went and bought new ones thinking it'd be relatively easy to fit them. I'm pretty competent with a toolbox but I cannot for the life of me find the top mounts for rear shocks (is it possible that the tops of dampers thread up into a mount fixed to car frame?).

Can anybody advise on the correct removal procedure for dampers? thanks in advance for any help.
