Dynamat?

Featured Replies

I've used some before, but it's quite expensive, so to deploy it usefully isn't a cheap business.

There are, however, products out there which are much the same, but you'd buy in a builder's merchants so they are quite a bit cheaper. Seem to recall Jason (devonutopia) found out something about this, can't remember what brand and make it was though... :D

Yeah it isnt cheap! Was it worthwhile tho - much quieter? Im wanting to reduce tyre noise mostly so was thinking of covering the boot and wheelarches (if poss)

I dunno, I didn't pay enough to do it properly... ;)

If you want to reduce tyre noise, turn your radio up ;)

Seriously though - I've found the fabia to be well sound-proofed in terms of not being able to hear my stereo from outside the car (excluding the sub), so had always assumed the same was true the other way (not hearing external sounds too much).

I'd try maplin or someone similar to look for a no-name/generic product that does the same thing. Isn't there something called brown bread?

I will be using vinyl tile insulation on mine - a LOT cheaper than dynamat and if layered up a little bit, should do as good a job.

Marly roofing tape.. wickes do it about 1/8 the price of dynamat

Sounds messy but worth a look, nice one

"worth" - the operatve word in that statement. ;) I don't see why I should spent shedloads on something hidden away from sight in my car. :D
