Front wing removal Felica/Pick up

Featured Replies

Hi,

New member after a bit of advice. My recently acquired Cube has a bit of rust on the front wing. When I say a bit I mean quite a lot ): Main problem is the front quarter panel, and I am pondering what my next move is. Basically, when I pop the bonnet there is a hole on the top of the wing, where the bonnet usually sits. This hole is about 4" long. So, my options, as I see it are;

1) find a welder

2) pack it and fill it, but would be a bit worried in case of a front end bash

3) fit 'new' wing.

My question, and hopefully there is someone out there who has experience of this... Is the wing a bolt-on or is there welding involved? I have had a quick look and can't see anything obvious. It does look as though the bumper needs off, but otherwise, on my quick glance, there is nothing that looks too permanent. Is this the case? Can I just have at it with the spanners and get myself down to the local breakers?

Thanks in advance for any help (: And rest assured, if I do replace the wing, I'll happily write an account of my exploits in case any one is interested... Might be helpful for someone in the future...

Cheers

the wing is bolted on yes, but it's would have been sealed on there with some pretty obnoxious sealer which is an absolute pig to get off, you will need to remove the bump, mud flap(if fitted), head light unit and indicator unit

Thanks for the advice Tom - Am intrigued by the sealant... Have you experience with this? Do I need to refit the new wing with similarly offensive sealant? Any advice on what to use?

Thanks for the advice though - am really grateful.

Cheers

Roger

nah dont bother with the sealant, it's only to stop water ingress
