Fog light fell out!

Featured Replies

Had my fog lights replaced a few months ago due to the water problem. Today, whilst on m25 everyone who overtook me looked down towards my front wheel and seemed to smile. A few people actually pointed to my wheel - so i thought.

I pulled over on the hard shoulder and was suprised to see my fog light completely out of its housing just flapping around held by the cables. I put it back in and carried on. I checked it later and it was coming out again.

It can be pulled out with no resistance! The other side was fine.

My car was already booked in to fix my MFD issue so they will be fixing this also. lets hope they get it right this time.

I must say, although I like this car, my patience is beginning to dwindle. Only another 58k until I get to choose another car....................

Rather than blame the car so swiftly I would blame the dealer who did the fog lamp swap since they seem to have provided a second rate service.

I agree, but I've had a few issues with the car such as passenger door card not fitted correctly from factory, fog lights collecting water from build, MFD stuck - unable to use phone, not happy with upgraded sound system, but overall dealer taking ages to sort out these issues and having car booked in then realising they forgot to order a part which mean't more time off road.

I still think this is the best car I have had to date, but I'm not used to spending so much time with the dealers sorting out issues that should have been QC'd at the factory.

IIRC the fog lights are held in by a plastic clip that is moulded in the body of the light - you have to press this plastic clip in to pop the fog light out when changing bulbs etc. I remember thinking myself that the spring didn't feel too positive when it went back in and that it would be quite possible to re-fit the lamps without them being properly in place but looking fine. I wonder if they weren't pushed back in correctly?

Justin.

So far I have not had any problems with my Superb, but even these days there are occasional problems with new cars. Some manufacturers are very poor on build even though the quality of fittings is good and the cars have perceived value. Others such as Skoda seem to be much better at build and the quality of fittings, but it would be a mistake to think that any manufacturer is perfect. Not many years ago I had a car from a manufacturer with a good reputation, not Skoda, and the car had 23 faults on delivery. The dealer fixed them pretty quickly. I have always felt that the main issue is how well a dealer sorts out any issues. It seems that you have a dealer who hasn't got his act together and is not providing a good service.

well, my fog light has been working itself loose since it was "repaired" and it responded to being pushed back in on a number of occasions. However, last week, it came out whilst i was on the m25 and was dangling by the wiring loom. I did not notice this until i reached home. The light was broken where it had been in contact on the road, and the clip broken due to , i presume, it hitting the bumper. i took it straight to whitehouse dartford, who promptly ordered a replacement which was fitted on Monday this week.

When collecting the car, I was suprised that they tried to charge me £120+ to fix the light stating that the clip was broken and this was due to some kind of impact. Apparently, their warranty guy decided it was not a warranty claim!!

I explained the issues I had with the light coming loose since it was repaired, but they did not want to know. Fortunately, as it's a lease vehicle, they picked up the tab, although i feel that they should not have to pay . Their technical guy will take this up with skoda.

Time to find another dealer for my servicing / repairs... any good dealers around dartford / kent area?

thanks
