Problem with Felicia

Featured Replies

My felicia 1.6 will start fine but the idle is random, usually it idles at about 1100 and when engine is warm it drops to about 900. But now it will idle at 1100 as usual but it will not drop, even after a long drive. Also when idleing the revs with go up and down 1000 - 1300, asif its breathing in and out.

Another thing, if you touch the accelerator sometimes it will rise and stick at about 2000 revs then after a few seconds it drops, when in gear usually 3rd it seems to pull itself along without me touching the accelerator.

-The coolant sensor has been changed but the problem still occurs

-Have dissconnected battery overnight but again problem still occurs

So if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

The throttle body position needs resetting using vag-com.

Mine still idles roughly sometimes and seems its going to stall (sometime it does) but it has improved a lot. I think this may be another fault developing though as it was cured once the diagnostics were reset initially

Ok, where would i get this done?

check for air leaks, the servo pipe sometimes splits,

with it running check for any hissing noises and spray some wd40 of similar around any air pipes to see if you can hear it being sucked in

ok ive checked for any air leaks and found nothing, however the day i checked this the car started normally and idled normally, so i think it may be a annoying re-occuring problem.

sounds like yet another dodgy throttle body, they seem to be cropping up quite regularly on here now

Throttle body needs replacing I reckon. I very recently had this problem on my 1.3. I got a replacement second hand for £40. Try a search here: www.breakeryard.com You should find one easily. N.B.you will need the exact part number which is stamped on the body; get the wrong one and it may fit but it won't work.

you could also get that same throttle body off a 1.6 mpi 6n polo or seat ibiza, in fact there are about 20 different engine codes that use the same throttle body

Had this problem on my Fely after deep cleaning the throttle body with carb cleaner.

I managed to resolve it by removing the throttle body, removing the air intake valve on the throttle body, and gently lubricating the valve edges with silicone, in order to seal again like it used to.

Do not use to much silicone, and try to keep it smooth, do not lubricate besides clamping.

When inserting back the valve, make sure it seals correctly before screwing back the screws.

After this i made the ECU learning values routine: turn the ignition key from the zero or locked position to position 1 and maintain it in this position for 10 seconds.

This trick did it for me, the idle speed is now @750 rpm constant.

excuse my english.

good luck

The problem is no more :), went down the scrap yard and got a throttle body off a felicia 1.6 and did a straight swap now the car idles fine at about 850rpm.

Thanks

I still have a similar problem with my 1.3 felicia, fixed the high idle with vag-com but it still struggles sometimes when idling at traffic lights. It will sputter and if i put my foot on the accelerator you can hear backfire happening, lift off and it will usually cut out. It doesn't happen all the time, just every now and again. Any ideas what I need to do to correct the problem as it is starting to get annoying. Thanks
