Anti roll bars or coilovers

Featured Replies

Hello.

I am driving an Octavia Mk1 2004, and i want to improve it's steering.

Its sat on 225/45/17 TOYO T1R tires, original springs and shock absorbers.

I am using the car daily, so i don't want it to be rough to much,

Occasionally we practice a little bit on a kind of a track (Jimikana)

After some theories I read and heard I thought of replacing the front and rear anti roll bars first.

What would you suggest to replace first ?

The final objective is reducing the rolling angle with minimum harm to the comfort.

Sorry for my poor English...

Hope you can advice me.

hi, rear anti roll bar, then suspension then if you still want to play around with the setup fit the front arb.

the mk1 really really really needs a rear arb, prob the best mod you can do for the money on this car!

Thanks.

Which size is better to fit ? rear and front.

Hi,

Not really worth changing the front anti roll bar unless you have all the springs/dampers changed as well as this can dial in more understeer, just having the rear bar fitted makes it a much more balanced car with a lot less understeer than standard.

Eibach (25mm) or Neuspeed (25mm or 28mm) are the best quality.... However the Whiteline (22mm) is a very popular option, very good on price when compared with the other makes.

I personally like the design of the Eibach - Neuspeed and Whiteline both hang quite low and IMO look too much of a bolt on, where as the Eibach looks sleek and follows the contours of the rear axle without any protrusion.

SuperPro bushes on the front wishbones make a massive difference to the feel of the car - without making it feel rough.

OEM springs and dampers are good if you don’t want to lower it, I ran my car for over 12 months with a 330bhp IHI turbo setup with just the bushes replaced and a rear bar and had no issues/problems at all!

Hope this helps

Just thought..........

The Audi S3 lower brace make a small difference with the turn in as it reduces the flex in the subframe......it is cheap and easy to fit, can be done in 10 mins with the correct tools!

If you do a search for S3 lower brace/strut brace something will come up with the part numbers you would need.

I have fitted the bushes a while ago, there was a change in the feeling of the car.

the rear arb will be ordered soon, probably the whiteline.

I just checked the price of the S3 brace, the audi distributor sells it for 230$ !!!

No luck in searching it on ebay...

Is there any internet stores where I can buy it ?

Thanks.

Can you ship it out side of england ?

And where can I find the S3 lower strut brace ?

Thanks.

Apart from ARB(s), you might also look at changing tyre pressures. With the standard 205 section, you get good results on T1-Rs by going up 2PSI on standard all round. Certainly do this if you're getting more edge wear than centre wear all round.
