Rear door rust... common problem or just me?

Featured Replies

Gave the Octavia a wash yesterday and noticed that there was a fine line of what looks to be rust right on the lower leading edge of both rear doors, with just a hint of bubbling on the door face on the drivers side. Is this just me that's got this, or like the estate tailgate trim edge rust spots, is it a common problem?

The car's going in to get some repair work rectified in a couple of weeks and I might get them to sort it then, or I'm wondering if like the tailgate, it will be covered under warranty.

It sounds dodjy for a car still under warranty. Get them to have a look

I just spotted a bit of corrosion on the bottom edge of the tailgate today too. :(

Re the warranty, I'm wondering how they differentiate between paint problem (3 year guarantee) and corrosion problem (10 year guarantee). I think a trip to the local Skoda dealer is in order, espacially as it looks like we're going to drive the old girl to the bottom of Italy in a couple of months; don't want her not looking her best.

I had some rust on the bottom edge of my tailgate lip, it was dealt with when the boot was resprayed (under warranty)
