Wind noise!

Featured Replies

I have got a wind problem!! Lol. On my car tho. The screen has a wind noise when doing about 75-80 coming from the near side windscreen. Can the seals be renewed or re sealed without taking screen out? I think screen isn't th origional as it's pilkington.

Any help woul be great

Not sure mate, but mine is the same, its a replacement windscreen from autoglass i too would like to know.

Mine has done it ever since the screen was replaced after a brick got dropped on the metal sill across the bottom. I thought it was because the bodyshop didn't bend the sill back exactly the right shape but it may be a general issue with the seals.

Seals ???

As in the plastic strips that run down the sides ??

The screen is bonded in place.

I think the problem is caused by the bottom of these strips - try a bit on black insulation tape on the bottom of them.

Do you mean putting insulating tape down the sides over the black plastic and into windscreen so the air doesn't go underneath? Sounds simple but effective

I would try just at the bottom of the strip, and maybe add more if it does not help. Remember that glass, glue & sunshine/heat can create a horrible sticky mess when you come to remove it.

I am due to get *another* screen fitted tomorrow....

Thats what I was thinking, they clip iirc, when I had my screen changed they didn't put them down the bottom and under the scuttle panel rubber properly. Does that make sense lol

I know that this may sound ridiculous but check your undertray, just below your smic in front of your front wheel. Mine was hangind down slighlty and made a ridiculous noise which I thought was the windscreen. I just took the right hand section out (more air to the smic too!)

Just a thought but have you checked your wipers? I sometimes get a slight wind noise as I fitted aero wipers and the passenger side sits slightly off the screen causing some wind noise. There is a technical and difficult solution which involves turning the volume up on the radio ;)

My mk4 golf ones sit ok

Turning the stereo up works for wind noise, wheel bearings, noisy tyres, my diesel/tractor engine and so on....
