Pioneer DEH-P77MP Install Help

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've been reading through all the differnet threads for the install of this unit, which I have just got today.

I have taken out the standard unit and connected the Pioneer with the connector that came with it. It powers up ok and works as it should with the key in the ignition but I cannot connect the aerial as the connection on the HU is female, similar to the Skoda end. The unit will also not work when I take out the key and it loses any preset info, such as base, treble etc when the key is removed.

Now reading through the prebious threads it would seem that getting hold of an aerial amplifier will sort out the connection issue, but how is this connected, particularly in relation to the blue and white wires from the pioneer loom that are not connected in the middle?

I am also concerned about a possible pwer drain on the battery if I do not connect something up right.

Can anyone give me advise on what I should be doing and what else I need in very simple terms as I think It should be straight forward and am reluctant to pay

I haven't bothered using the aerial adapter so I'm not 100% sure, but I believe it's just something which connects onto the aerial, and also to a 12V supply...

With regards the power issue - you need to swap the switched power and permanent supply...probably a red and yellow wire...

Thanks for the quick response.

I forgot to mention I'm fitting it into a Fabia VRS.

The Red/Yellow wire swap, is this in the Pioneer loom or at the Skoda Loom? How do I change them over? Sorry for obviously being think on this matter.

The pioneer loom should have two bullet connectors on it (heat shrinked) just swap them two over and you connection worries wiill be sorted.

For the aerial you either need a stright adapter that converts one aerial type to the other (you either have a pin or tube for want of a better phrase. Or like you say you can get a booster. Either come from Halfords or the like and come with instructions.

Thanks, I wondered if the red/yellow could be swapped that easily, just wanted to make sure and not blow it up!!

I will get hold of the amplifier for the aerial tomorrow.

Can you clarify what I do with the Blue/White wires? Should these be connected or left apart. Should I be doing anything about possible battery drain?

IIRC the blue connector goes to your aerial amp if you get one, the other is a remote for amp power if your running amps that is.

Ok, all has now become clear. I assume that once I have connected the aerial amp and swapped the red/yellow there should be no problem with any battery drain?

Really appreciate your help on this, I thought it was fairly simple and sometimes you read to much info and starts the confusion.

Thanks again.

Yeah, it will be connected the same as my one then and ive had no battery issues at all.
