Ive had my furby for a week and noticed the aircon doesnt seem to be making any difference, and makes a hell of a noise. common fault or something to be checked out?

Not been here for long enough to find the general consensus on what most people here think of certain services but I had a similar fault.

You turn the the air con on and all you get is a rather noisy fan likes ound coming from roughly the passenger side dash and no actual cold air.

Took my car to kwik fit and got an air con recharge done on it for £49.99. Took them an hour or so so went off and got some lunch came back to find a small group of guys had gathered round my car, the tech looked at me and said 'hope you have a heavier coat than that?' Some what perplexed I ask 'why?' he then showed me the thermal prop which read a very cold 0.9c to which he informed me it was the coldest air con he had ever recharged.

So noise gone and a very cold air con now working nicely, for £49.99 I gotta say it was worth it.

Just for the sake of it the report said

150kg of refrigerant recovered

0 ml of oil recovered

550kg refrigerant recharged

20ml oil charged

Vacum tested for 30mins no leak found

aah ok so its just a case of regassing, brilliant thanks for your help buddy

Just had this done today at the main dealer in Dartford, namely Motorline for £49 inc of VAT. Received no report however, so may phone tomorrow and enquire, as they seemed to have a lot of paper in triplicate when we paid. Perhaps he gave us the wrong copy!

Is it standard practice to give a report or just a Kwikfit gimmick?

Was surprised at the cheap price to be honest, especially from a main dealer. Just proves that you should always shop around and get quotes first, as the air con recharge was cheaper than a trusted independent in Rochford that we normally use. Whereas conversely the annual inspection, air filters and break fluid change came in from Motorline at a whopping £100 more than the independent Skoda dealer in Grays Thurrock, namely Fortune Auto Sales.

PS Anyone know what the board's policy on listing independent Skoda dealers? As there's a regional list for official franchise dealers, and from searching the boards there's at least one other independent Skoda dealer in West Kent mentioned somewhere. It would be good to have them all listed just like the official ones, me thinks!
