I would imagine it is the same as the Fabia MK 1 TDIs. A 5W-40 and VW 505.01. There is a list of them in the Fabia I section. What engine oil must I use in my Fabia vRS?

However, do you know if your car has a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), if so you need the more expensive long-life (5W-30, 504/507) stuff.

Thanks Jim the car does not have a DPF so I guess 5/40 will do

ASDA sell 5L Mobil #1 "ESP" 5W-30 VW specs 504 & 507 for £32. This is the best spec oil for all VW diesel engines ( & petrol ).

That's the wrong spec. He needs a 5W-40, 505.01 oil. However I have read that you can use this oil as it exceeds 505.01 and is reconmended for PD cars with more than 150BHP and/or a DPF.

It is a very good price though, if it is this oil. Mobil 1 ESP 5W-30 Fully synthetic motor oil - Opie Oils I normally pay about £5 less for Millers XFE-PD oil (505.01).

I'm afraid you're behind the times. VW spec 507 is the correct spec. By using this spec it can be used for both variable and fixed service intervals and for diesel cars with or without DPF.

If you put a PD or CR engined car ( any HP ) in a VW dealer for oil change this is the oil spec they would use . VW spec 507 oil is downwards compaitible and is recommended for for all PD & CR engines.

I asked this specific question for my own cars as previously I was using 506.01 Longlife for our 2003 PD Polo ( non DPF) and 507 spec for my golf MK1,6 CR TDI (with DPF ) . I now use 507 spec for both.

I agree that the lowest spec oil for fixed interval servicing for PD engines ( non DPF) is 505.01 ( if 507 spec is not available) but why use it when a higher spec oil is also recommended and can be bought at a lower price ?

Our Octavia handbook ( supplement 05/09 ) also recommends 507 Spec ( & also 506.01 but not 505.01) for the 2010 1.9 PD engine.
