Vrs, Which Engine?

Featured Replies

I have searched the topics but there seems to be lot of contradiction. I am after a facelift VRS petrol and have seen one on a 59 plate but am unsure which engine will be in it (tfsi or tsi).

Is there any way of telling before I go to see it?

(engine number starts ccz, is this related to the engine code ccza?)

As I understand things, all the facelift octys (inc vRS) should be the latest Tsi engines (as opposed fsi) as that was part of the whole FL deal. In fact, the Tsi replacement engines started with the last gasp of the mkII pre-FL in the shape of the vRS Limited Editions (09 plates so predating your 59) who were the first Octy models to get it fitted :)

All face lift ones should be TSI but i believe the vrs gets the 197bhp variant not the 207bhp from the golf gti

Although there is plenty of rumour out there to indicate Skoda are "forgetting" to detne the engine and it's going out there at 207bhp.

VAG will I assume supply different ecu maps for that engine so I don't imagine it's a case of detuning anything.

VAG always state their power outputs conservatively therefore if there are are vRS's putting out 207bhp then there will be GTi's putting out 215bhp I'd imagine.

as above they will not be detuning the cars themselves, it would be all supplied in the ECU with a different part # from the GTI. any higher readings like the recent "218Hp as standard" are all results of the dyno lottery

When i had mine rolling roaded it was exactly 197 as standard!
