This is why one does NOT buy a Land Rover

Erm indeed... The latest US JD Power Initial Quality Study:

What I find interesting about that data is how little difference there is between the various makes. Leaving Landrover aside (which I know was the point of the post) as the largest single outlier, the best and worst each score within 20% or so of the mean. So there really isn't a major difference in probability of problems likely to be encountered whichever brand you choose to buy.

No Skoda in that list? Is that because it comes under Volkswagen or aren't Skodas imported to the US?

Doesn't bode too well for LR does it? emoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif Strange how they always get glowing reviews in the UK motoring press though or is that because Land Rover pay them for this? emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Nope, no Skodas in the US.

You don't get Skodas or SEATs in the USA. Nor do you get Alfa Romeos, Fiats, Renaults, Peugeots or A and B class Mercs and many other makes we get here... And even the 3 series and C-class Merc does not come with any diesel or 4 cylinder petrol engines. And they don't like station wagons either. Strange country.

On the whole it shows how good cars have become. And how far Land Rover still have to go before they make decent cars. Here is the UK one. It shows you how subjective these rankings are as just look where LR is on this one!

They do sell a rather cool car in the US which we don't get here.

VW Routan.

Which is a rebadged Chrysler Voyager. No-one is falling for it and VW stopped making it for a long time as they had nearly 30,000 in stock - all unsold. A huge flop for VW.
