Which engine oil for my Fabia 1.4 16V estate?

Featured Replies

My 2001 Fab 1.4 seems to drink quite a lot of oil. I was told by the very helpful guys at my local car parts store that it's normal - modern engines use quite a lot of the stuff. He recommended Castrol SLX @

Errr well i don't think any new cars should be using oil! My Occy VRS has done 1K miles with me and not used a drop, and that is not nursing it. Look in your manual to get the recommended oil and stick to that. There will be a few choices but if you get one that comes up to spec use that, or get in touch with Oilman on these forums and he will help you. :)

The dealer will have been referring to Castrol SLX LongLife II which is a 0W-30 oil. That oil is only suitable for engines specifically designed to use it - which in the case of the Skoda is those which can be set for variable servicing.

Ok,

VAG Group do everything by codes, in your handbook it will give you some codes for the oil to be used in the car, it will look a little like VW505.00 you will then need an oil that meets this VW spec.
