MY cousin bought a GTi grill for the front of his '00 Polo TDi. He didn't bother getting the attachable GTi badge that's supposed to go with it, but is wondering if its possible to buy a TDi one which is attached to the clip that goes onto the GTI grill or will he have to buy both the GTi clip (with badge) and also buy a TDi stick on badge so that he can put the TDi one on the clip ?

Anyone know what the part numbers are from VW and also would it be any cheaper if he has to, getting the TDi badge from a Skoda garage.

No, the GTi badge for the grill has some kind of backing plate which its stuck to and it clips onto the grill in a certain position on the grill (theres an exact spot for it to go on, theres little holes for the fastner to go into).

He was in a VW garage and they gave him the following part numbers,

GTi: IK6 853 679 FXC

TDi: 3BO 853 675 ACGQF

I assume the GTi number includes the backing plate but I wonder if you can get the backing on its own or do they possibly sell the TDi on the same backing.

I think your cousin will just have to use the Tdi badge glue. It's quite strong stuff so it should not come off.

I fitted a GTi grill to the front and bought a Transporter TDi grille badge, i have managed to fit it to the grill quite easily by cutting and reshaping the clips on the badge to fit the grill, if you need any pics or any more info then please e-mail me
