Our SM with panoramic sunroof ready now in the Factory

Featured Replies

Our SM has seen the light today!

Our dealer just informed us that our monster was born today.  Only four weeks later than the original date was set! :o Our SM has this infamous sunroof, therefore it was quite a surprise for me that it took "only" 11 weeks from the order to get it manufactured. Hopefully this means they have sorted out the sunroof problem, what ever it was.

It still takes about 3-4 weeks to get the SM home. This means no need for winter tires here when it arrives and no danger of having a frost byte when driving sunroof open ;)

Countdown can begin now!

On Order: Skoda Yeti 1.2 DSG + panoramic sunroof

Ordered: Early April

Home: ~Late July

Congrats Asterion, when did you order your SM??

Just been reading on the Superb II forum that one of there members has been informed by their dealer, that the roof has been dropped on cost grounds; Skoda are loosing money on everyone they fit they say; odd response from the dealer :wonder:

7th of April

I took out my panoramic sunroof (including 1.2 DSG) for a little ride tonight...just for fun....I´m sure you will do the same :-)

Don´t forget to try the "S" mode on the DSG.

Enjoy the ride.

That does seem strange as it's not a cheap option? My dealer says it's just a supply and demand issue right now and they will be back as an option latter in the year???

Like the true salesmen they are, each dealer seems to invent whatever story they can come up with about the sunroofs. We have now had:

  • Not enough raw material - ie glass
  • Supplier problems of some sort
  • The machine in the factory that makes the hole in the roof does not work
  • and they are losing money on the roof

The last two surely the cherry on the cake in terms of "pie in the sky" salesman's rubbish. What next? Martians stole the supply of roofs to kit out their spaceships?! If cost was an issue they would have just doubled the price and be done with it. Not rocket science. And even at double the price I would still have ticked the box.

But back to topic: Asterion I'm a jealous man but very happy for you! I'm still waiting for mine to be born and it will only be born in week 41. emoticon-0106-crying.gif

I totally agree with you! These kind of delivery problems (or with the consultant language: challenges) can happen to any can manufacturer, but I would expect that the communication from the factory to the dealers shoud be consistent. :wonder: One and the same story for everybody. No need for every dealer to come up with an own (sometimes eveh hilarious) stories. Also the promised delivery times should be much easier to keep. When a new order is entered in in the system, the system should immediately know when it really can be delivered…whatever ERP (Enterprise resource planning ) system these guys have , it should re upgraded to this century. :dull:
