1.4 TSi

Featured Replies

Hi there to all of you!

First of all congrats to this wonderful forum and all the useful info it has.

I went to the showroom of Skoda today to test drivethe Yeti having the knowledge of three Whatcar magazine reviews and comparisons, including all of the Web reviews available so i was pretty cocky i would outplay him in his tactics to impress me but that went down bloody as he started with ''the yeti is available in 1.2tsi , 1.4tsi, and me saying what?

The salesman explained me the Yeti comes now with a powerful 1.4tsi 122bhp same engine used in Golf etc.

I took a test drive of the 1.2tsi and yes i found it to be quite good as said, so my question here is:

''Will the 1.4 be more suitable to this car in your opinion and will it be more fuel efficient cause i won't be revving too much? Also the 1.4 is tested and in many reviews been found one of the best engines i.e What Car 1.4-1.6 Engine of the year.

I have lots and lots of questions but i guess some will eventuall skip my thread so i will end with a pricelist of the engines available and tell me if its worth it as well.

p.s. the prices are in euro.

Thanks in advance again!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

not driven either 1.2 or 1.4TSI myself but the reports on here from 1.2 owners seem very positive.

fuel consumption figures from Skoda CZ are as follows:

1.4TSI 6 speed manual

Consumption - City 8,9 l/100km

Consumption - outside the city 5,9 l/100km

Consumption - combined 6,8 l/100km

1.2TSI 6 speed manual

Consumption - City 7,6 l/100km

Consumption - outside city 5,9 l/100km

Consumption - combined 6,4 l/100km

So if your driving in town regularly then the 1.2 would be more economical but out on the open road there's little between them. Think it really down to whether you wish to pay the extra 1400 euros for a little more of power or would prefer to spend this on some options.

Regards,

TP

So you think is a matter of what you need and not taking the fact that it might be more suitable the 1.4 instead of the 1.2

Because is not much of a difference i.e 1.2 or a 1.8 and after one year from the production would i be lucky to order the 1.4 or is it still a matter of choice that's my point of view.

Thanks for the extra info on the fuel consumption and is there a link where i could get more about it?

Hi again,

the required My link in CZ as this is the home market web site. Tends to have a little more info than the international site.

Best to start proper threads for each item. Or look at all the threads pinned at the top of the Yeti Forum first. Lots of questions are already answered in there.

It's all right mate, though i'm still on a verge whether it's gonna be the 1.2 or the 1.4

I don't have a prob goin for the later but the 1.2 got excellent reviews from Whatcar and the test drive i gave it.

I'm still waiting for a review or the dealer to bring it so i can test drive it.

Any advises?

I test drove the 1.2 at the dealership I made my purchase from and was expecting it to be sluggish and underpowered, what a surprise I got when I put my foot down, it still had some OOOOOMPH :giggle:

I didn't drive mine too far so i was quite cautious at first, i gave it some speed on a long road but no motorways or something.

Don't know yet if it's wise to spend 1400euros more for the 1.4 and if it's gonna hold its value more than the 1.2 and also about fuel economy.

These are the main reasons that worry me the most cause is my first new car that i am buying, the last three i had were used and were easier to pick.
