panel filters (cleaning)

Featured Replies

this is first car ive actually fitted a panel filter in, ive got a KN panel filter and i removed it other day and its in need for a clean, whats best way to clean them or is it best to buy new one?

buy a new one....

cleaning then re-oiling is a dead cert way to maff up your MAF sensor

best of with oem paper and replace every 10k imo

Use there own cleaning kit http://www.knfilters.com/clningacc.htm

Dont over oil it and you will be fine

Reading through some of the old posts would suggest the maf sensor problem has been wrongly blamed on the filter - dont shoot me just what i have been reading this morning! ;)

Got to agree with that

Over oil the MAF?????

If it is dripping off , then yes it will

Have to question how some people get round blind bens at times????

I must admit though , I have a Pipercross one in , after 60k miles , I just replace it with a new one

But it is not that hard to do

Have fun

Ran out of cleaning fluid for my Green Filter ages ago. So now I soak it a bucket of warm water with some washing powder for about an hour.

Drain, rinse thouroughly and bake in the oven at 100 deg c. for +/- 30 minutes until bone dry.

Re-oil and away you go

just follow the K&N instructions

dont over oil it though. Performance air filters are crap at filtering so any debris including oil can get blown through it,
