DSG Oil & Filter Change

Featured Replies

Ok i have had some ( what i think ) stupid quotes to do an Oil & Filter change on the DSG box. Cheapest one was £170

How easy is this to do? Is it something i can do myself on Axle stands or does it have to be done by a Dealer?

Cheers

Carl

You really need the proper fill tool to get all the oil into the box. You fill the oil throught the drain hole. The tool by itself is around the £200 mark. The oil is £10.51 per litre (you need around 6), the filter is £9.78, o-ring for the filter is £2.43, plastic level plug is £8.01 and the sump plug washer is £0.59p. All prices are retail plus vat. Vag-com is also needed to get the oil temp readouts to know when to disconnect the fill tool.

I had the DSG Oil & Filter changed on my Golf at 40,000 miles, and IIRC it was about £110 at a VAG indy in St Albans - M Chapman Auto Services.

£70 of that was for the oil. About 7 litres at a tenner per litre.

Hope this helps.
