  • 3 months later...

Having just replaced a MFD2 with a stream mp3, (Car originally came fitted with a stream) I am having to do this mod to get the cd changer sound quality back - it is really quiet and distorted, but the fact that the earth location has moved probably explains this.

Will post later if it was successful.

BTW, link is now here and scroll to the bottom for the pin outs of the mfd2, stream and stream mp3 units to compare.

Andy, the earth shouldn't be any different on the Stream and MFD2. It's only on the mfd3 Columbus where the earth for the changer is in a different position.

Mike

Mike - it is different on the Stream MP3 I have just fitted to the MFD2 I have taken out.

The earth for the CD Changer on the MFD2/Stream is on the second pin along on the top row of the blue connector block. On the Stream MP3 this is the earth for the Aux In, the earth for the CDC has been moved to the third pin along. Just been out and moved the earth connector over one position and CDC is now perfect. Nice to see that this is well thought out and you can easily move connectors about without resorting to soldering irons, scotchlocks, crimping etc.

Seems I now have 3 spare pins to connect a AUX IN to :)
