filter elements or induction kits

Featured Replies

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if a induction kit from k n or pipercross or an element would be better for my mk1 octavia vrs. I will hopefully be getting a remap in the near future aswell.

from what ive heard on here people seem to go for a replacement air filter like a pipercross or greencotton, k&n etc, then get a bigger air intake from a leon pd160 thats on the fabia's dunno about the octys

Up to you, a lot of people have fitted cold air intake kits to Octys in the past but are now going back to performance filters in the standard airboxes.

Personally I find you get slightly better torque with a performance filter and a smoothed standard airbox than you get with a CAI, I would only bother with a CAI if I had a bigger turbo.

I was thinking about getting my brother-in-law to make a heat shield for a k n or other open cone filter, and was wondering if this would be worth the effort. I am after a performance increase but i want the induction sound aswell.

An open cone will give you the induction 'snort' but plenty of heat soak...

CAI's will give you 50% of the noise with very little heat soak if any - better for sustained performance.

Jabba do an open filter with heat shield, take a look HERE...

This is what I have, coupled to a much bigger than normal (16" x 9") K&N cone filter. Works nice and sounds awesome!

Ive had a stage one remap by revo and have replaced the panel filter with a pipercross one (ebay £35), keeping the original airbox. it's great and im running at 215bhp and 240lb torque. I have been temped to get the carbonio CAI but for £200+ and no real gains in performance I cant justify it.

I really recommend the pipercross panel filter, im interested what other people think.

PS Just fitted a black carpet in my vRS, it was out of a Golf R32 and fits perfect! Well worth getting rid of that horrible white carpet and it cost me £40!
