Octy Scout water from top of door

Featured Replies

On our Scout if left in heavy rain when you open the passenger front door water, quite a lot is released from the top of the door & falls onto the seat, anyone else experrienced the Skoda shower & any help as to whats the cause, waters obviously sitting in somewhere & not draining away.

i noticed the other day on my octavia vrs that water actually drips from where it sits in the door seal onto the seat with the door closed, when i opened the door the water is sitting between the seal and the door. Think im gonna have to have a go at bending the top of the door in or something similar with the window down and see if that helps

Might be worth trying a smear of Silicone or Vaseline first.

If its under guarantee its a stealer job anyway

If I'm not careful when hosing my vRS down I get the same - water ingresses at the top door seal. So far not noticed a problem with rain. The top door seal just doesn't seem the best.

Sarge.

i might try a bit of grease and see what happens, i bought the car from a vauxhall dealer a month ago and it has a 3 month warranty so will have to see what happens if it still does it ill have to contact them and see if i stand any chance of it being sorted

Yes it's a common fault, happend today in heavy rain to me with rain dripping in through the top of the passanger door seal and on to my 4 yo lad say in the back - neither of us were happy as you can imagine. It will be added to my broken lumber support when I ring the dealer as I expect both to be sorted under warranty, but if it wasn't in warranty I'd be trying some vaseline - although at the end of the day it's the design of the seal that's at fault combined with the shape of the roof that hasn't got a big enough rain gully run off over the doors so as soon as you open them you get a shower regardless...

makes you wonder if they actually test the simple things like this on new car, every new car seems to dump rain and snow on you when you get in and out and fill the boot when you open that aswell...

Thats because you dont take it out in the rain :giggle:

True but why would I take it off my shelf ? It would make the 911GT3, Countach, Gallado, Cobra etc etc lonely .... :giggle: Found my Countach downstairs yesterday with 2 Polly Pockets driving it.

A worrying development .......
