Oil pressure light

Featured Replies

Well lads,

I've got an 02 Octavia I, engine code ALH.

The oil pressure light on it was continuously on, 3 beeps at start up.

So I assumed it was the one of the oil pressure sensors but before I ordered anything I did some looking around on the internets.

I read somewhere about checking fuse 5, so I checked it, fuse looked fine so thought that wasn't it.

Started up the car later, no beeps, clock and journey distance reset but most importantly, oil pressure light now turns itself off.

Can anyone shed any light on this? It would appear it's fixed, but without actually knowing what the original issue is / was I'm reluctant to leave it alone.

It's relatively easy and cheap to change the sensor, so you might as well change that first. Usually the the wire connector are loose or crud builds up on the sensor and stop the oil pressing on the sensor hence giving false readings.

Cheers Soot1e,

I was/am planning on replacing it anyway, just curious as to house it would have reset from the fuses?
