hi, i bought my octavia vrs tfsi about a month ago from a vauxhall dealer. Its an 06 plate with 35k miles on the clock and has a pretty much full service history mostly with a skoda dealer.

As a matter of course yesterday my dad and i decided to do an oil change to make sure it had good quality oil in it and noticed some pieces of metal in the oil from the filter housing (although none in the main engine oil). Upon cutting open the filter there is also metal inside the filter too.

Basically i need help or suggestions as to what i should do from here. Could it be a simple thing like oil only being taken out with an extractor since new and never fully removing the stuff from the run in period or something more serious. The engine seems to run fine and pulls well with no untoward noises as far as i can tell.

any help much appreciated

if the metal is from the engine somewhere the first thing to check is the fuel pump and follower and cam to make sure it's not eating itself alive!

ill check that today and see what happens then

checked it earlier and there is a small amount of wear but nothing that looks out of the ordinary. Anymore ideas ?

does anyone have any idea whether a skoda dealer would use an oil extractor to do an oil change or whether they would do it from the sump plug
