Front Speakers Furby Tdi Elegance

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've been searching some of the existing threads and found a bit of info about replacing the front speakers in the Vrs. However im not sure if the same fittings are in use in the 1.9 Tdi Elegance. Could someone tell me the easiest way to get to the front speakers and remove them? Are they screwed in or rivited?

I was thinking about getting some INFINITY-REF-6502i as they seem very reasonable in terms of performance to price.

I'm a little bit worried about pulling the door panel off, but i also would rather DIY it.

Pretty sure they're the same as the vRS ones. This thread should hopefully explain all :D

Chris

Btw, are you running the standard HU or an uprated one? :D

Infinity's are a top notch choice of door speaker! These are my infinity kappa's. Not given a really good chance to whelly them because of various vibration issues, and now a dead pioneer HU :( Some more work to do until they're going good & proper. :D

edit: Do a search for "door padding out" of mine. Its got some tips for removing the door cards, as does Xavier's thread I'm positive! :)

I'm fitting an ALPINE-CDA-9830R as soon as I recieve the removal keys (Thanks Ross Clarke)

I was reading that post previously and that was the main cause of my concerns *Doh* I was hoping i could get away without taking the panel off and just remove the plastic grills, but i dont want to snap anything. I might try it that way as I dont intend on fitting door tweeters so i guess all that additional cabling wont be there.

If you take the card off, you'll find out the plastic grille is an integral part of the door card mould :( I like my octy, its got removable covers. :D

But really. four Torx 15 bolts, and three philips, are the only things holding the door card firmly in place - the rest is poppers. :)

Thats just rude. :thumbdwn:

I'll have to give it a look...

Thanks

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. ;) I was thinking of cutting it out with a hacksaw when I was thinking of fitting those overly deep woofers. Luckily in the end Joel worked it out a treat and the door card goes back snugly over it. (had to pad out around the edge of the grill though, due to resonating. :)
