Fitting AP Coilovers

Featured Replies

Im about to purchase some AP Coilovers, and im wondering is there anything else i need to fit at the same time to make sure everything is fine such as a different ARB or Drop links.

Also has anybody fitted these AP's or Weitecs? im kind of in two minds at the moment deciding which ones to go for. Im looking at the AP's due to them being £50 notes cheaper but what does everyone think?

Any comments will be of help, Thanks :)

i have the Weitecs and they give a fantastic ride, had a little problem of a leaky rear shock, and myself and adlav have the same problem of knocking front end (he has AP)

we are awating the results from his fix then i will chase them up to sort mine, but apart from that cannot fault them they are fantastic.

drop links arent vital, check your top mounts, some ppl prefere to replace them (skoda said not to bother to me)

might be worth doing the Cupra bushes while its all apart if you havent already. apart from that not much else they are a straight swap.

DOWN AND OUT! :giggle:

FWIW, the knocking I've been suffering from since my shocks were fitted seems to be due to the undertray getting warped and knocking against the sump. A couple of pieces of foam where it slots in against the bumper appear to have allowed it to maintain its original shape, and stop the knocking.

Could be worth a try - I'd checked allsorts up 'til then: snapped spring; loose dash component; strut brace (although that's stayed off now anyway); top mounts...

For the price of them - I would do the top mounts & bearings too.

That way you can completely build the new coilovers ready to put on the car and you wont need spring compressors to strip the old struts.

And you have complete struts comming off the car to keep as a quick replacement if needed.

AdLav had his car to G-Werks and they think its the top to coils knocking against each other. 'Because we decide to run them so low'
