New steering wheel

Featured Replies

I'm looking to put a sparco steering wheel in my Vrs and the airbag would be disconnected thus the light would come on. Firstly would anything else happen (immobilised etc) and is there a way of turning the light off?

Back in the day of when the mk3 Golf first came out with airbag wheels lots of people wanted to change them. I think the advice at the time was to put in a resistor to fool the ECU into thinking the airbag was still there, or just put up with the airbag light. There was also talk of notifying insurance companies.

Personally speaking, whilst he mk3 Golf airbag wheel wasn't the most attractive thing on the planet I quite like the standard vRS wheel.

There was also talk of notifying insurance companies.

Not only that, but in these litiginous times, I suspect you'd have to put a big notice in the car saying "Warning - No Airbag" in case someone else drove it (e.g. during servicing/MOT) :-)
