Snake Oil!!

Yup... Snake Oil, B.S. .. No need for it! :smirk:

Nothing should go in the oil sump other than VW 507 spec. oil. No additives.

Some of these additives will just clog up the oil filter and cause the pressure valve to open. This will then have the oil running around unfiltered.

This sounds a bit like the thread last weekend about using 'waterless' washing systems.

I would not risk adding anything to the sump other than proper VW507 00 synthetic oil. That oil is expensive enough and I am sure would contain all the additives that could be needed.

The actual contact areas that need lubricating in an engine are very small. So diluting the oil by putting in something else just does not make sense to me at all. It is reducing the amount of oil in the thin film on those areas. So is the snake oil better than normal oil that is reccomended by the engine manufacturer?

Unlikely I feel, which is why I never buy the stuff.
