I am (hopefully) going to be buying a Skoda Fabia 1/4 Elegance on a 2000 plate later today....

Only issue is it doesn't lock.......... :'(

Apparently it doesnt work with the remote nor does the key work when used manually in the door but the car will lock from the inside.....???

The lady has said that she has changed the battery in the fob but nothing else.

This isnt enough to put me off buying the car, I would just like some suggestions on how to fix it......

Does it have the same probelm with all of the doors or just one of them?

It could be a dodgy lock mechanism (These are known for going wrong on the octavia, not sure about fabia though), or it could be water which has got in the connections. (Again, an octavia problem, there is a control unit in the door and water gets in).

Hope you get it sorted anyway.

Hi Welcome, I should think the stealer(dealer) will be able to sort that quite easily , although probably cheaper to try a "recommended" service/repair specialist. Might even just need the key re-programming.

It could need re-programming, but I think it's more a probelm with the car. She said the remote doesn't work and it doesn't work when the key is used manually either.

If the price you are paying is top book price i wouldn't bother unless the dealer sorts it out but if you are buying a bargin then get it.
