Replacement Battery

Featured Replies

The time has come to replace the battery.

Usually I change to a diesel battery that has better capacity (helpful when running amps) and cranking power.

The diesel batteries are always bigger but the battery trays are usually standard across models.

Are the battery trays in Octavias the same across the range?

I could measure it but I forgot this morning and I need to order it today to get it tomorrow.

Or will the battery cover fit if the battery is a bit bigger (approx 36mm)?

Any diesel mk1 octavia owners with a battery cover?

the battery cover on my tdi looks the same size as the cover SWMBOs petrol leon.

AFAIK, you can get bigger battery trays and covers from diesel and v6 golfs.

But don't hold me to that!!

Battery tray and cover are bigger for the diesel Octavia. Got one fitted to my 4x4 but still have the petrol battery in it, haven't got round to buying a diesel battery yet.

Anyone breaking a diesel octy? :giggle:

So it is. Just been out and measured them and the diesel battery cover is almost 3" wider than the petrol one!

Is the fuseholder the same for the diesel ones, or is the metal bar from the positive post longer?

Halfords list 3 batteries for my car, all with different dimensions :dull:

Can someone measure the battery and let me know what size it is? My car is at home and I really need to order this.

Just get a higher capacity Varta/Bosch Silver in the same battery dimensions and save yourself the effort of the change of the tray?

I just bought a Varta.

The problem is that Halfords list 3 sizes of battery for my car and my car is at home so I couldn't check.

Euro car parts list 6 batteries all with the same dimensions so I went for that.

I would never trust anything that Halfords 'lists' for my car after some experiences in the past!! I had a UK Subaru WRX saloon and was looking for wiper blades and it didn't list any for the front at all and one for the back (UK Subaru saloon's don't have a rear wiper!) and I was looking for a brake light bulb the other day for my vRS and it list a double filament bulb and the one in the car is a single filament!!

The dimensions are roughly 250mm wide, 175mm deep, and 190 ish deep. That is for a 2002 petrol vrs.
