Engine Flush

Featured Replies

The last time I took my car for an oil change I was charged for an 'engine flush'.

Does anyone know what this is and if it's really required?

Thanks

Hi Chorlton,

We offer an engine flush here - we use Wynn's which bascially help clean out all the gunk and freshen up all the bits and bobs in the engine so they run like a dream :) helps stop the oil pick up pipes getting blocked too :)

We offer it an an extra if people wish to have it done. Just a thing that helps the engine run for a long as possible without issues :)

Always been under the impression that EFs should only be done on high milage motors,

With it stripping all crucial oils away from parts that need oil to begine with on startup.. causing un-necessary friction first few secs of startup of the engine

Was this done by stoneacre by anychance??

I think that a flush every 60'000 miles can be a good thing for some engines, but you have to be careful what you flush with.

Thanks for the replies.

This was done on my Fabia vRS by a small, local to me (Loughborough) garage. I was just wondering whether to bother with it in future.

Up to you but I'd not bother with it more than every other change.

I seem to recall skoda's official line is don't do it.

i never bother with flushing an engine, i think the rule of thumb goes that if it needs to be cleaned out it's already too late!!
